Harrisburg Senators News Release
The Harrisburg Senators won the finale of a three-game set in style as Matt Skole launched a walk-off, three-run home run in the bottom of the 12th inning to propel Harrisburg to a 8-7 win in front of an impressive gathering of 6,190 fans at Metro Bank Park.
Senators' starter James Simmons sailed through his first three innings of work, but allowed two runs in the fourth and sixth innings on six hits. Simmons also struck out a season-high six batters in his 5.1 innings of work. Neil Holland finished the sixth inning cleanly. Brian Dupra fired innings seven, eight and nine, allowing a run on three hits while striking out four.
Harrisburg cut the Reading lead in half in the sixth inning when Quincy Latimore launched his second home run of the year, a two-run shot to make it 4-2, Reading. The Senators remained quiet until the ninth inning. Mitch Canham singled and was followed by a pinch-hit double by Skole. Michael Taylor drove both runners in with a two-run double. Taylor then advanced to third on a Caleb Ramsey single, and Cutter Dykstra drove home the game-tying run with a sacrifice fly.
Rafael Martin pitched the first two extra innings without allowing a run. In the 12th, Reading scored two runs on four singles off Paolo Espino on their way to take what was a short-lived two-run lead.
In the bottom of the 12th it was Martinson with a single to lead off the inning and then Adrian Sanchez walked with one out to put runners on first and second. Mitch Canham flew out for the second out to set up Skole, who drove the 1-0 offering from Jay Johnson over the right-center field fence for the win.
