Felix Doubront makes a MLB Rehab Assignment tonight for Portland in the rubber game of a three-game series against the Erie SeaWolves (Tigers affiliate).

NEWS AND NOTES

MAJOR INFLUENCE : Former Sea Dog LHP Felix Doubront (on the DL with a left-shoulder strain) makes a Major League Rehab Assignment in the series between Portland and Erie on Thursday night at Hadlock Field...Erie took the opener 11-9 on Tuesday night, knocking out a season-high 21 hits...Portland got even last night, and is playing just their second rubber game (0-1) of the season...With a win tonight, the 'Dogs will match a season best 20 games over .500...Portland had not been 20 games over .500 since June 5, 1997.

WAY TO GO BIG O : LHP Henry Owens (7-3) tossed a career-high eight scoreless frames on two hits, leading the Sea Dogs to a 5-1 win over Erie on Wednesday...Owens walked two, fanned six and threw 107 pitches/73 strikes...RF Bo Greenwell led off the first inning with a homer into the U.S. Cellular Pavilion, his first with Portland...CF Derrik Gibson knocked home two runs and reached base three times...C Blake Swihart had three hits and delivered a two-run single in the eighth - the ball was misplayed and should have been caught for the third out.
