Chesapeake Baysox News Release
The Baysox battled back to end a season-long seven-game losing streak defeating New Hampshire 7-4 on Thursday night in the series finale. DH Ronald Bermudez had his second four-hit game of the year in the winning effort.
Bowie was down early. Solo home runs in the second and third inning lifted New Hampshire to a 3-0 lead. But Baysox starter Tyler Wilson did not budge afterwards, striking out eight batters on the night in six strong innings.
The Baysox consistently threatened. On the night Bowie had a runner at third base in six of nine innings. They broke through in the fourth inning. CF Dariel Alvarez doubled off of the wall in left-center. A Bermudez single and a walk to C Michael Ohlman loaded the bases. 2B David Adams then singled home a run and a SAC fly from SS Garabez Rosa made it a one-run game at 3-2.
After tying the game with a run in the sixth inning the Baysox took the lead in the seventh. RF Chih Hsien Chian and 3B Niuman Romero walked to open the inning. They moved up a bag each on a wild pitch and 1B Christian Walker drove home his 50th run of the year with a single to center. Bermudez's fourth hit of the night added to the Baysox advantage and Ohlman then doubled home another making it 6-3.
Bowie got strong relief work from Chris Petrini and Oliver Drake to close the game. Drake registered his 11th save just over an hour from his hometown of Gardner, MA to close out the win.
