Harrisburg Senators News Release

The Harrisburg Senators strong start continued on Wednesday night in Altoona with an 8-0 shutout over the Curve. It was their second shutout in the past eight days over Altoona.

Danny Rosenbaum, coming off a nine-inning complete game against Altoona last Wednesday, pitched seven scoreless innings allowing just three hits in earning his third win on the season. Rosenbaum lowered his ERA to a league best 0.94. Pat McCoy and Hector Nelo both pitched a scoreless inning in relief.

Harrisburg plated a couple of runs in the second inning thanks to a passed ball and a sacrifice fly off the bat of Chris McConnell. And then in the sixth they broke the game open with five runs. Both pitchers were sailing along into the sixth inning and the ballgame had the look of a pitcher's duel.

With Altoona starter Nathan Baker starting the sixth inning having retired eight straight batters, a big inning didn't look like it was coming. Jeff Kobernus singled but was immediately forced out on a ground ball by Destin Hood. Tim Pahuta was hit by a pitch moving Hood to second which brought Chris Rahl to the plate and started the explosion. On three consecutive pitches, Chris Rahl doubled in two runs, Stephen King tripled in one and Sandy Leon singled in King the Senators four runs in the space of three pitches to three batters. Chris McConnell followed with a double and then Rosenbaum chipped in with a sac fly giving the Sens their final tally of the inning.

Jim Negrych drove in Leon with a pinch-hit single to round out the scoring in the eighth inning. Leon had three hits while Rahl and King both had two hits for the Senators. One night after stealing seven bases then Sens didn't steal any on Wednesday.

The final game of the three-game series is Thursday night at Peoples Natural Gas Field in Altoona. Game time on Thursday is at 6:30 p.m. with RH Rob Gilliam on the hill for the Sens. The game can be heard on 1460am The Ticket, on the Internet through the Senators website and iHeart Radio and on your iPod or iPad beginning at 6:10 p.m.
