Miscellaneous Notes

Last Game... After 3:52 of baseball on Wednesday night, Dee Brown singled in the winning run for the Senators in their 6-5 win over the New Hampshire Fisher Cats. The Sens had 16 hits, received 5 walks, 3 hit batters, and New Hampshire committed 2 errors for a total of 26 base runners, but scored just six runs. Sheldon Fulse led the way with four hits followed by Ofilio Castro with three and Frank Diaz, Marco Yepez and Dee Brown all with two hits. Dan Dement singled to extend his hitting streak to nine games. With all the hits and runs, the Senators had just three RBIs in the game as two runners scored on wild pitches and a third on a double play ground ball. The Sens had numerous chances to break the game open, but just couldn't get the one big hit to do so. Jim Magrane started for the Sens and had a tough luck outing, giving up two runs in the second then leaving the game with one out in the seventh inning and runners at first and second. In between the second and seventh innings, he retired 11 batters in a row. Jeremy Plexico, Zech Zinicola and winner Carlos Martinez combined to retire the final nine New Hampshire batters. In the eleventh inning for the Sens, Josh Whitesell walked, Diaz singled and they were then moved up on a sacrifice bunt by Luke Montz. Marco Yepez was intentionally walked which gave Brown the chance to be the hero, and he delivered with a single to right.

Tonight's Game... The Senators and New Hampshire Fisher Cats play the final game of their three-game series tonight at Commerce Bank Park. The Sens are looking for their first three-game sweep at Commerce Bank Park since sweeping Connecticut last July. Tonight's Starting Pitcher... The Senators send LH Mike Hinckley to the mound against LH Ricky Romero for New Hampshire. Hinckley is making his 21st start this season for the Senators. The Expos 3rd round pick in the 2001 draft was a highly touted prospect when he pitched for the Senators in 2004, but injuries and control problems since then kept him at single A Potomac the past two seasons. He's had decisions in 17 of his 19 starts. Hinckley leads the Senators pitching staff in wins with nine.

Sens Notes...

► The Sens have not had the same line up in two straight games since the first two games of the season.

► Last night was the Sens fifth walk-off win this season.

► The Sens still have 11 of the original 24 players still on their roster that started this season. Altogether, the Sens have used 50 different players this season.

► Since the All-Star break the Sens are batting .284 with 68 extra base hits

► Since the all-star break the Sens are hitting .251 with risp... they have left 81 runners in scoring position and have 46 two-out RBIs

► The Senators have scored six or more runs 12 times in the 20 games since the break, but they are just 7-13 since the break. In the first 91 games this season, the Sens scored six or more runs just 27 times.

► The offense is averaging 5.9 runs per game since the All-Star break, however the Sens are giving up an average of 6.9 runs per game.

► The start on Wednesday by Beltran Perez was the first quality start from a Sens starter since he went 6 innings at Akron on 7/16. He allowed a run in that outing.

► The Sens have struck out 10+ times in a game 27 times this season and have also struck out more than any other team in the Eastern League

► From the eighth inning on this season the Sens have been outscored 114-80. In July, they've been outscored 29-19

► The Sens are now 35 games under .500 after snapping their five-game losing streak last night. The lowest point the Sens have been in their 21 year franchise history is at the end of the 2004 season when they finished 52-90, 38 games under .500.

► The Sens had four players named to the EL All-Star team this season: Collin Balester, Dan Kolb, Brett Campbell, and Josh Whitesell
