Miscellaneous Notes

Tonight's Game... Tonight is game two of a three-game weekend series between the Sens and Trenton Thunder. The Sens have 13 games left with Trenton out of the 45 they have left to play this season. They still have not played Portland at all this year.

Last Time Out... The Senators snapped their two-game losing streak with a 3-2 win over the Trenton Thunder on Friday night at Metro Bank Park. Sean Rooney drew a bases-loaded two-out walk to drive in the winning run in the 10th inning. Erik Arnesen started for the Sens and was outstanding again, though he didn't earn a decision. Arnesen went seven innings allowing five hits and a run. Carlos Martinez blew the save in the ninth inning but gained the win with pitching a scoreless tenth inning. Sens pitchers combined to allow nine hits while striking out five and not allowing a walk in ten innings of work. Joel Guzman had a two-run double in the first inning, driving in Edgardo Baez and Christian Guzman. Castro and Guzman both had two hits in the game. The RBI by Rooney was his first AA RBI.

Avoiding Akron and Bowie... The Sens are 42-55 overall and just 5-24 against Akron and Bowie. The Sens have finished their season series with Akron. They are 37-31 against the rest of the Eastern League this season.

June was Jumpin'... The Sens went 20-9 in June to become the first Eastern League team to win 20 games in a month this season. It was the first time they've won 20 games in a month in over five seasons.

A Tale of Two First Halves... The Sens experienced a significant turnaround starting June 2. In the first 47 games of the season, the Sens were 13-34 with a team batting avg of .245 41 HR 153 RBI 164 R and on the mound they had a 4.75 ERA with 317 K 143 BB 46 HR allowed and a .295 avg against. Since June 2 the Sens are 29-21 with a team batting avg of .267 44hr 213rbi 226r and on the mound a 3.57 era with 305k 150bb 27hr allowed and a .274 avg against. All of this and they are 9-13 in July.
