Portland Winterhawks News Release

Portland, Ore. - A tense first-period tussle turned into a rampant 4-1 Winterhawks victory, thanks to three second-period tallies and 27 saves from Dante Giannuzzi.

Portland has won seven consecutive games and has points in 10 straight (8-0-1-1).

After a scoreless first, Ryder Thompson got the Portland flurry started early in the middle frame with his first of the season. Thompson picked off an Everett pass in the neutral zone and ripped a blistering wrist shot into the top corner just 2:10 into the period. Eleven minutes later, Aidan Litke finished off a Robbie Fromm-Delorme rebound to make it 2-0 Hawks, notching his fifth of the year in the process. Wrapping up the frame, Jack O'Brien and Marcus Nguyen perfectly executed a 2-on-0 play in the waning moments after an Everett defender fell in the neutral zone, as O'Brien tallied his 100th career point with a top-shelf finish on Braden Holt.

The Hawks continued to pour it on in the third period, jumping out to a 4-0 advantage just over two minutes in when Fromm-Delorme netted a goal of his own. After Litke put a shot on goal through traffic, Kyle Chyzowski deftly slid the rebound over to Fromm-Delorme at the left side of the net for a tap-in finish. Everett broke the shutout bid with an Olen Zellweger strike at 10:36, but Giannuzzi held strong to pick up his fifth straight win.

The Winterhawks are right back at it tomorrow night at 6:00 against the Kamloops Blazers for Women of the Rose City Night. More information available at winterhawks.com/womensnight.
