ICE Get Past Regina 5-2

A four point by forward Zach Benson (two goals and two assists) led the Winnipeg ICE to a 5-2 victory over the Regina Pats Saturday night at the ICE Cave inside Wayne Fleming Arena.

Benson's first goal of the night came shorthanded. The ICE now lead the WHL with 10 shorthanded goals this season.

Connor McClennon, Conor Geekie, and Ty Nash also scored as they extended their winning streak to 15 games while improving their record to 20-1. Carson Lambos chipped in with two assists to reach the 100-point mark in his WHL career.

Winnipeg out shot Regina 33-18. Mason Beaupit earned his second consecutive win in goal for the ICE while Drew Sim suffered the loss.

Alexander Suzdalev had both goals for Regina (9-11-1-1).

The ICE went 1/5 on the power play while the Pats were 1/7.

Winnipeg returns to action Tuesday and Wednesday, both starting at 7:00 at the ICE Cave inside Wayne Fleming Arena.
