
SeaWolves Strike Early, Take Down Ponies 7-2

Erie SeaWolves News Release
The Erie SeaWolves matched their season-high watermark of 14 games over .500 with a 7-2 victory over the Binghamton Rumble Ponies at UPMC Park on Wednesday.
Daniel Cabrera led off the home half of the first with an inside-the-park homer against David Griffin. It was his third round-tripper for Erie this season. Parker Meadows worked a one-out walk and Quincy Nieporte was then hit by a pitch. Two batters later, Dillon Dingler banged one off the left-field wall for a two-run double to give the SeaWolves a 3-0 lead.
Binghamton responded with a run in the second. Nick Meyer drew a one-out walk off of Reese Olson. Jeremy Vasquez singled to right and Matt Winaker was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Wyatt Young reached on an infield single, which brought in Meyer and cut the deficit to 3-1.
Eric De La Rosa and Andrew Navigato had back-to-back singles to begin the bottom of the second. Cabrera notched his second RBI with a single to center to plate De La Rosa. Navigato advanced to third after Andre Lipcius grounded into a double play. Meadows then picked up an RBI single to give Erie a 5-1 lead.
The SeaWolves added a run in the fourth. Nieporte laced a two-out double against Alec Kisena. Wenceel Perez smoked a one-hopper to the first baseman Jeremy Vasquez. Perez ended up at first with a single and Nieporte scored after Vasquez airmailed the ball on a throw to Kisena covering first base.
Brett Baty blasted a solo homer in the fifth to make it a 6-2 ballgame.
Olson received the no-decision. He tossed 4.1 innings, allowing two runs on five hits, walking two, and striking out two.
Meadows began the bottom of the seventh with a triple. Perez drove him in with a sac fly to put Erie ahead 7-2.
Kyle Zurak (3-1) earned the win. He threw 1.2 scoreless innings, giving up one hit and one walk, while ringing up one batter.
Griffin (0-5) was tagged with the loss. He allowed five runs in 1.2 innings.
