Binghamton Rumble Ponies News Release
ERIE, PA - The Erie SeaWolves scored five runs over the first two innings, as the Rumble Ponies fell 7-2 to the SeaWolves at UPMC Park Wednesday night. It's Binghamton's longest skid of the season at eight games.
The Seawolves (9-4, 48-34) plated three runs in the first off David Griffin (0-5), beginning with the leadoff hitter Daniel Cabrera hitting an inside-the-park home run on a line drive down the left field line. Later in the frame, Dillon Dingler hit a two-run double to left center that extended the lead to 3-0.
The Rumble Ponies (3-11, 31-52) plated a run in the second on a bases loaded infield single from Wyatt Young to make it a 3-1 game. In the bottom half of the frame, Cabrera again delivered with an RBI single to make it 4-1 and two batters later Parker Meadows hit an RBI single to right that extended the lead to 5-1.
The Ponies cut the deficit to 6-2 in the fifth on a solo home run from Brett Baty to left center, his 12th of the year. Baty finished 3-5 as he also got on base with singles in the third and the ninth.
Binghamton did get the first two men on in the sixth, via a walk by Nick Meyer and a single from Jeremy Vasquez off Kyle Zurak (3-1) but were unable to score. Vasquez also had a three hit night finishing 3-4.
The two teams continue their series on Thursday evening with first pitch at 6:05 PM and pregame coverage beginning at 5:50 PM on the WNBF Rumble Ponies Radio Network.
Postgame Notes: Alec Kisena was strong in relief allowing one earned run over four frames with two walks and four strikeouts...Cabrera's inside-the-park home run was the first against the Rumble Ponies this season.
