SeaWolves Slug Their Way to Fourth Straight Win

The SeaWolves won their fourth straight game on Friday night, taking down the Bowie Baysox 11-3 at Prince George's Stadium.

Erie jumped ahead in the first against Baysox starter Branden Kline. Brendan Harris was hit by a pitch with one out and moved to second on a Corey Jones walk. Dean Green singled home Harris for a 1-0 lead.

Erie added to the lead in the second. Casper Wells led off with a walk and with one out, Josh Prince belted a two-run home run to left for a 3-0 lead. It was the first hit and home run of the season for Prince. Wynton Bernard followed with a ground rule double. He stole third and scored on a Harris single making it 4-0.

In the top of the third with one out, Wells and Miguel Gonzalez connected on back-to-back home runs for a 6-0 Erie lead. It was the first time since May 29, 2014 (Steven Moya & Aaron Westlake) that Erie hit back-to-back home runs. It was also the first home run for Wells since October 3, 1012 against the LA Angels while he was with the Seattle Mariners.

Bowie got on the board in the fifth against Erie starter Austin Kubitza . Michael Burgess and Ozzie Martienz each walked to start the inning. With one out, Jimmy Paredes singled home Burgess making it 6-1. Derrik Gibson followed and on a fielder's choice, plating Martinez making it 6-2.

The 'Wolves added to the lead in the seventh against reliever Terry Doyle. Harris singled to lead off the inning and Green singled with one out putting two on for Jeff McVaney . McVaney doubled home Harris making it 7-2. The knock for McVaney extended his hitting streak to seven straight games. James Robbins followed with a base knock to center, scoring a pair for a 9-2 lead.

In the top of the ninth, Wells topped a three-RBI night doubling home Green and Robbins for an 11-2 advantage.

The Baysox got one off of reliever Guido Knudson in the last of the ninth but could get no closer.

Kubitza (1-0) earned his first Double-A win tossing five innings, allowing two runs on four hits with three walks and two strikeouts.
