SeaWolves Bash Bowie 17-1

The SeaWolves scored a season-high 17 runs on a season-high 22 hits in a 17-1 thumping of the Bowie Baysox on Thursday night a Prince George's Stadium.

The SeaWolves have done it with the home run ball all series and that continued in the top of the second inning against Bowie starter Zach Peek. Parker Meadows and Gage Workman each singled with one out and Andrew Navigato walked with two outs, turning the lineup over to Dylan Rosa at the top. Bowie summoned reliever Tyler Burch to face Rosa. Rosa clubbed a 399' grand slam to left center for a 4-0 lead. The home run for Rosa was his second in as many days and it was the second grand slam of the season for Erie.

Erie added to the lead in the third and once again, did the damage with two outs. Quincy Nieporte belted a solo home run to left for a 5-0 lead. It was his ninth home run of the season and ninth home run of the series for Erie. Meadows then doubled and was doubled home by Workman for a 6-0 lead. Chris Rabago walked to keep the inning going for Navigato who singled home Workman making it 7-0.

In the top of the fourth, Bowie reliever Conner Loeprich walked Dingler to start the frame and walked Andre Lipcius with one out. Nieporte and Meadows followed with back-to-back RBI singles, extending the Erie lead to nine runs.

The Baysox got a run back in the last of the fourth against Erie starter Reese Olson. Gunnar Henderson led off with a walk, Hudson Haskin reached on an error and Jordan Westburg walked loading the bases. Henderson scored on a one-out groundout making it 9-1.

The Erie run machine continued to produce in the fifth as Navigato led off with a solo home run to left. It was his second home run of the season and 10th home run hit by the SeaWolves in the series. Rosa doubled and advanced to third on a wild pitch and Dingler walked for the second time in the game. Kerry Carpenter extended his hitting streak to eight straight games with an RBI single, scoring Rosa making it 11-1. Lipcius singled home Dingler for a 12-1 lead and Carpenter eventually scored on a Meadows fielder's choice making it 13-1.

In the top of the seventh, Carpenter doubled with one out giving Erie another runner in scoring position. Nieporte and Eric De La Rosa each doubled with two outs scoring two more runs. De La Rosa came in to score a base hit from Workman, his third of the game, capping another three-run inning and extending the lead to 15 runs.

Erie plated one final run in the eighth against reliver Shelton Perkins. Carpenter once again doubled with one out for his third hit of the night. He eventually scored on a Bowie error for a 17-1 lead.

A pair of Erie relievers in Chavez Fernander and Joe Navilhon kept Bowie off the board over the final two innings of the game.

Olson (3-2) earned the win allowing an unearned run on two hits with two walks and eight strikeouts in five innings. Olson has now struck out 29 hitters over his past three starts (14.2 IP).

Peek (0-2) took the loss for Bowie allowing three runs on four hits with a walk and a strikeout.

The SeaWolves sent a season-high 55 batters to the plate in the win and seven batters had multi-hit games. Erie has outscored Bowie 30-6 over the first three games of the series.
