
Valera's Clutch Home Run Leads Ducks Past Fisher Cats 4-2

Summary
A clutch George Valera home run and five strong from Joey Cantillo helped the Akron RubberDucks defeat the New Hampshire Fisher Cats 4-2 on Thursday night at Canal Park.
Turning Point
After New Hampshire rallied back to tie the game at 2-2, the RubberDucks looked to go ahead for good when Brayan Rocchio worked a one-out walk. George Valera followed with a moonshot two-run home run to put Akron in front 4-2.
Mound Presence
Joey Cantillo was strong once again in his start for the RubberDucks. The left-hander did not allow a batter to reach until a one-out double in the fifth inning. Cantillo finished his outing tossing five scoreless allowing just one hit and one walk while striking out seven. Jared Janczak followed with two innings allowing one run. Kevin Coulter tossed an inning allowing one run. Kyle Marman earned the save tossing one inning with no hits, and a strikeout.
Duck Tales
Akron got the scoring started in the third with a Chris Roller solo home run to center field. Then in the fourth inning, Rocchio doubled on a line drive to center field to keep the pressure on for the RubberDucks. Valera brought Rocchio home on an RBI single out to right field, making it 2-0 in favor of the Ducks.
Notebook
Cantillo has not allowed a run in his last 22 innings pitched and is the only qualifying starter in all of MiLB or MLB to have 0.00 ERA for the month of May...Roller's home run was his first since June 4, 2021 against Erie at Canal Park...Valera's home run traveled an estimated 472 feet with a 110 mph exit velocity...Game Time: 2:04 ...Attendance: 1,522.
