Quad Cities River Bandits News Release

Davenport, Iowa - The Quad Cities River Bandits scored a season-high 11 runs and struck out a season-high 15 Wisconsin batters, as they topped the Timber Rattlers 11-4 on Wednesday night at Modern Woodmen Park.

After being shutout in a 2-0 loss on Tuesday, Quad took a 5-0 lead in the opening frame against Timber Rattlers starter Cam Wagoner, with Carter Jensen, River Town, and Kale Emshoff combining for four RBI singles. A Wagoner wild pitch allowed Emshoff to score the fifth run of the frame.

Although the Timber Rattlers responded with a pair of runs on an Alex Hall two-run homer in the second, cutting the Bandits lead to 5-2, Noah Cameron finished off his 4.2-inning start allowing just three base runners over his final 2.2 innings including seven of his season-high nine strikeouts.

Wagoner settled down over his next three innings, holding the Bandits off the board, but allowed a pair of walks before departing midway through the bottom of the fifth, where Quad Cities took advantage with the second two-run single of the night for Town, who drove a Joey Matulovich pitch into center for a 7-2 River Bandits lead and a four-RBI night.

While Parker Harm, Brandon Johnson, and Anthony Simonelli combined for five strikeouts and 3.1 scoreless out of the Q.C. bullpen, the Bandits offense scored a combined four additional runs over the final three frames, each pitched by Max Lazar.

Gavin Cross drove in a David Hollie triple on a sacrifice fly in the sixth, Cayden Wallace scored on a wild pitch after tripling in the seventh, and Hollie left the yard with a two-run shot for his first-career High-A blast in the eighth.

Hall took Quad Cities reliever Luis Barroso deep for a two-run home run, his second on the game, in the top of the ninth, but it was too little too late for Wisconsin, as the right-hander would retire the next three T-Rats hitters in order to secure an 11-4 River Bandits victory.

Johnson (1-2) earned the win for the Bandits in his longest outing of the season, stranding one hit and one walk, with three strikeouts, while Wagoner (1-2) was tagged with the loss for Wisconsin, giving up seven runs, all earned, on four hits, four walks, and four strikeouts.

Quad Cities will look to guarantee a split of the six-game series on Friday, with Luinder Avila (1-0, 1.08) toeing the rubber for the Bandits against Stiven Cruz (1-0, 2.00), who makes his third start of the season for the Timber Rattlers. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30pm at Modern Woodmen Park.
