
Sean Bergenheim Named AHL All-Star

BRIDGEPORT, CT â The American Hockey League's Bridgeport Sound Tigers, top affiliate of the National Hockey League's New York Islanders, have announced Sean Bergenheim has been named one of the forwards on the PlanetUSA roster for next month's Dodge AHL All-Star Classic, which will be hosted by the Manchester Monarchs on February 13th and 14th.
Bergenheim, who will turn 21 between now and the All-Star Classic, is the Sound Tigers' second-leading scorer with nine goals, ten assists and 19 points in 34 games this season. The 5'11'' 202-pounder from Helsinki, Finland is also a +4 and is tied for the team lead with three power-play goals and is second on the team with three game-winners this season.
Bergenheim was the Islanders' first pick, 22nd overall, in the 2002 NHL draft. He made his NHL debut on October 9, 2003 on the road against the Washington Capitals and scored his first big-league goal, shorthanded, on October 25, 2003 versus the Pittsburgh Penguins. Bergenheim had one goal, one assist, two points and four penalty minutes in 18 regular-season games with the Islanders and notched two goals, three assists, five points and ten penalty minutes in seven playoff games with the Sound Tigers last season. He also skated with Jokerit Helsinki in Finland last year posting two goals, two assists, four points and 18 penalty minutes in 20 games.
The Sound Tigers will play three games in three days this weekend visiting the Providence Bruins tomorrow at 7:05 p.m. and hosting the Philadelphia Phantoms this Saturday at 7:05 p.m. and the Hartford Wolf Pack this Sunday at 4:05 p.m. All Sound Tigers games are web cast live at www.soundtigers.com. Most games, including those this Friday and Saturday, are also broadcast live on 600 WICC-AM.
