Milwaukee Admirals News Release

The American Hockey League announced today that Milwaukee Admirals defenseman Andrew Hutchinson has been selected to the 2005 Dodge AHL All-Star Classic as a member of the PlanetUSA Team to be played next month in Manchester, NH.

Hutchinson, a native of Evanston, IL, is making his second consecutive AHL All-Star appearance. In 42 games this season, the 6-2, 198-pound blueliner has 32 points on nine goals and 23 assists and a +8 rating. He is currently tied for first among AHL defenseman in both scoring and game-winning goals (3).

A second round selection by the Nashville Predators in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft, Hutchinson played an integral role in helping the Admirals capture the AHL Crown last season, finishing last season's playoff run with four goals and 12 assists for 16 points, all three of which were AHL highs for defenseman. The Michigan State alum has notched eight points (4g-4a) in 18 career NHL contests with the Predators.

"Andrew is an extremely creative defenseman," noted Admirals Head Coach Claude Noel. "He isn't very flashy, but he skates deceptively well and always knows where to be and when. His decision process is also exceptional."

Hutchinson will have plenty of friendly foes when he takes the ice in New Hampshire, as three of his teammates will be wearing the Canadian All-Star Team sweaters. Fellow defensemen Brad Tiley, who will captain the Canadian squad, and Dan Hamhuis and forward Simon Gamache have already been selected to the game.

In addition, Noel will take his place as the bench boss for the Canadian All-Stars. He won that honor when the Admirals claimed the Calder Cup Title last season.

The 2005 Dodge AHL All-Star Classic will take place at the Verizon Wireless Arena in Manchester, N.H., home of the AHL's Manchester Monarchs. The event gets underway on Sunday, February 13, with the 2005 AHL All-Star Skills Competition at 7:00 p.m. (ET). The annual All-Star Game follows at 7:00 p.m. (ET) on Monday, February 14, and will be televised live nationally on ESPN2 in the United States and on Rogers Sportnet in Canada.

The PlanetUSA team comprises players born in the United States and Europe; the Canadian team was announced on Wednesday. AHL fans determined the starting lineups of both teams via on-line balloting at theahl.com, while a committee of AHL coaches selected the remainder of the rosters. All 28 teams are represented by at least one All-Star.
