Ehrhoff Selected To All-Star Game

CLEVELAND — The Cleveland Barons, in conjunction with the American Hockey League, announced today that defenseman Christian Ehrhoff was named to the PlanetUSA All-Star team for the 2005 Dodge AHL All-Star Classic to be held February 13th and 14th at the Verizon Wireless Arena in Manchester, NH. Michael T. Lehr, President of the Cleveland Barons, made the announcement.

Ehrhoff, 22, is tied for 15th among all AHL defensemen with 21 points (9-12-21). Among defensive scorers, he is tied for second in goals (9), tied for first in power play goals (6), and tied for first in game-winning goals (3). Ehrhoff's 156 shots lead all defensemen and are sixth among all skaters. Ehrhoff leads all Barons defensemen in points and goals, and is second in assists.

In 2003-04, Ehrhoff split his first North American season between the San Jose Sharks (NHL) and the Barons. In 41 games with the Sharks, Ehrhoff totaled one goal and 11 assists. He appeared in the YoungStars Game during the NHL All-Star Weekend. With Cleveland, he posted 14 points (4-10-14) and a +14 plus/minus rating in just 27 games. During the playoffs with the Barons, Ehrhoff's eight points (2-6-8) were second on the team.

The native of Moers, Germany has represented the German National Team on numerous occasions. The 6'2", 200-pound defenseman has appeared in the 2004 World Cup of Hockey, the 2002 Olympic Games, and multiple World and World Junior Championships.

Selected in the fourth round with 106th pick, Ehrhoff is one of three German players selected by the San Jose Sharks in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft on the Barons roster.

Ehrhoff is the eighth member in Barons franchise history to be selected to the AHL All-Star Game. In 2002, the Barons were represented by Jonathan Cheechoo, Mike Craig, and Ryan Kraft. Niko Dimitrakos and Jim Fahey were selected to play in the 2003 game. Last season, Miroslav Zalesak and Garrett Stafford were honored with a selection.

The 2005 Dodge AHL All-Star Game will air exclusively on ESPN2 in the United States and Rogers Sportsnet in Canada, live to viewers across both countries. Coverage begins at 7:00 p.m. ET on Mon., Feb. 14. FSN Ohio will carry the Skills Competition that will take place on February 13th.
