Mississippi Sea Wolves News Release
Biloxi, MS - The Mississippi Sea Wolves went 1-2-0 last week, losing to Pensacola 5-4 on Tuesday and Gwinnett 6-2 on Saturday before snapping their six-game losing streak with a 3-2 shootout win against Pensacola on Sunday.

The Mississippi Sea Wolves dropped their fifth straight game to the Pensacola Ice Pilots by the score of 5-4 at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum on Tuesday evening.
Mike Egener's goal at 8:03 of the first period gave Mississippi a 1-0 lead, but Pensacola thundered right back with three unanswered goals. Dan Sullivan popped in the rebound of Bryan McGregor's shot at 9:55 to even the score at one apiece. Michael Cohen one-timed Phil Youngclaus' pass past Sea Wolves goalie Morgan Cey to give Pensacola a 2-1 lead. Mathieu Roy found a loose puck in the crease and poked it in for a power-play goal at 14:57 of the first period.
Kyle McAllister's 10th goal of the season, a power-play marker at 2:34 of the second, drew the Sea Wolves within one. Lance Monych tied the game at three with his 25th goal of the season at 5:47, a power-play blast from the left wing.
The Ice Pilots regained the lead when Sullivan scored his second of the game, finding the loose puck in a goalmouth schmozzle at 8:44. At 11:38, Patrick Bordeleau would score the game-winner when Sullivan sprung him on a breakaway and he tucked the puck past Cey for a 5-3 Pensacola lead. Marek Kvapil drew the Sea Wolves within one with 14:46, and had another chance less than a minute later, but Mississippi failed to tie the game.
Morgan Cey made 24 saves, earning the loss, and Mississippi was 1-for-4 on the power play.
Saturday, February 23 vs. Gwinnett, 2-6 L
The Gwinnett Gladiators defeated the Mississippi Sea Wolves by the score of 6-2 in front of a season-high 8,653 fans at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum.
Gwinnett got on the board just three minutes into the first period when Jeff Campbell scored his first of three goals on the evening, firing a wrist shot that beat Sea Wolves goalie Ryan Munce over the catching glove. Jason Tejchma would even the score when he hammered home Ryan Menei's feed from behind the goal line for his 19th goal of the season at 5:05 of the first. Gwinnett would get the lead back at 12:21 of the first as Brad Schell picked up his fourth goal of the season.
Lou Dickenson increased the Gladiators lead to two when he fired a wrist shot past Munce at 12:37 of the second period. Jeff Campbell would add a shorthand goal at 3:13 of the third period and an even-strength goal at 8:45 to complete his hat trick. Marek Kvapil would pot his ninth goal of the year at 10:06 to draw the Sea Wolves within three, but Lou Dickenson would add his second of the night and 25th of the season to give Gwinnett a 6-2 lead at 12:09.
Ryan Munce made 20 saves on 25 shots to earn the loss, and Morgan Cey made five saves on six shots in 11:15 of relief work, earning a no decision. The Sea Wolves were 0-for-6 on the power play.
Sunday, February 24 vs. Pensacola, 3-2 W
The Mississippi Sea Wolves snapped a six-game losing streak with a 3-2 win in a shootout over the Pensacola Ice Pilots at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum on Sunday.
Pensacola jumped out to a 1-0 lead when Adam Berti fired a sharp angle shot into the top corner of the net past Sea Wolves goalie Ryan Munce at 6:44 of the second period. Berti would help dig the Sea Wolves hole deeper when he sprung Bryan Esner on a shorthanded breakaway that Esner tucked through Munce's legs for a goal at 19:07. On the same power play, Chris Cava picked up his sixth goal of the season, beating Pensacola netminder Cam Ellsworth with a blast from the point at 19:50 of the second period.
Mark Hurtubise would tie the game when he redirected Matt Deschamps' shot from the right point past Ellsworth for his ninth goal of the season at 10:40 of the third.
Jason Tejchma potted the shootout winner in the fifth round when his wrist shot beat Ellsworth over the blocking glove.
Ryan Munce made 27 saves on 29 shots and stopped four-of-five shooters in the shootout to earn the win. The Sea Wolves were 1-for-6 on the power play.

Lance Monych was traded to Stockton, with the Sea Wolves receiving speedy forward Andy Contois in return... Contois notched his first point as a Sea Wolf against Pensacola on Sunday, recording an assist on Mark Hurtubise's game-tying goal... Ryan Munce has stopped 12-of-14 shooters he has faced in three shootouts this season... Mark Hurtubise and Jason Tejchma had each failed to score in two previous shootout attempts before potting goals on Sunday in the second extra session against Pensacola.
