BRIGGS RETURNED FROM THE "A"

Goaltender Kellen Briggs will return to the Idaho Steelheads in time for Wednesday's game. Briggs had been on loan to the American Hockey League's Houston Aeros, but did not play in any games. Houston is the AHL affiliate of the Minnesota Wild of the National Hockey League and the Texas Wildcatters of the ECHL. This was the second call up for the 24-year-old rookie netminder. On Jan. 15, 2008, he received a call up from the Rockford IceHogs of the American Hockey League, AHL affiliate to the NHL's Chicago Blackhawks and ECHL's Pensacola Ice Pilots. Briggs, 5-11 and 185-pounds, has appeared in 25 games with Idaho this season and compiled a 15-8-1 record, and a 2.22 goals-against average and .927 save percentage with two shutouts. Briggs was named to the All-Star Game National Conference roster played in Stockton in Jan. where he made 10 second period saves (1 GA) to help the National Conference to a 10-7 w in over the American Conference in the 2008 All-Star Game. He was named RBK Hockey ECHL Goaltender of the Week for Nov. 19-25 and runner up for Jan. 7-13.

Northwest Animal Companions Night Results

NAC and the Idaho Steelheads would like to thank fans for their generosity. The 100% volunteer non-profit group attended the game on February 13th to hold a fundraiser to help homeless cats and dogs. Over $2,000 was raised that night, more than 700 hundred pounds of pet food was donated and three dogs were adopted! Once again, Steelheads fans showed their support. Thanks to all!
