Trenton Devils News Release
TRENTON, NJ (February 25, 2008) - The Trenton Devils announced today that "U.S. Army Day" will be held during the Devils' March 8th game against the Wheeling Nailers. The day features a multitude of events, culminating with a live induction ceremony on the ice.
Seventy recruits will be inducted into the army on the ice during the first intermission in front of their families and Devils fans. Leading the ceremony is Lt. Col. Ronald Tuczak, the Mid-Atlantic Army Recruiting Battalion Commander. The recruits' families will receive free admission courtesy of the Trenton Devils. There will also be a singer from the U.S. Army on hand to sing the National Anthem.
The festivities begin at 10:00am, when a "tricked out" Army Hummer H3 will be parked in front of Sovereign Bank Arena for viewing and photos.
Inside, when the doors open, a laser shot exhibition can be found on the concourse. Fans will have the opportunity to shoot at targets using modified military laser weapons.
Meanwhile, the Devils' mascot Scorch will be joined on the concourse by nine-foot tall GI Johnny, the Army's mascot, who will patrol the game greeting visitors.
The first 1,500 fans 14 and under in attendance will receive co-branded Trenton Devils/U.S. Army Dog Tags.
The puck drops between the Devils and Nailers at 12:00 noon.
The Trenton Devils are in the midst of a five-game road trip but will return to Sovereign Bank Arena to begin a three-game homestand. The set starts with a contest against the Elmira Jackals on Friday, March 7th at 7:30 p.m. Full and partial ticket plans for the 2007-08 season are available by calling 609-599-9500.
