NICE START: The Sea Dogs opened up a six-game roadtrip with a win on Tuesday night, and resume their three-game series with the Altoona Curve (Pirates affiliate) at Peoples Natural Gas Field...With a win tonight, the 'Dogs will clinch their second series against the Western Division (took two of three at Bowie, August 2-4)...LHP Chris Hernandez (0-0, 1.42 ERA) makes his second start with Portland, and the second of his career against the Altoona Curve.

SCORED EARLY, COUCH SOLID: RHP Keith Couch (9-3) tossed seven strong innings on run and 1B Travis Shaw went 4-for-4, leading the Sea Dogs to a 5-2 win over the Curve in the series opener...Portland scored all five runs in the first 3 innings off losing pitcher Casey Sadler (10-6)...2B Ryan Dent finished 3-for-4, knocking in two runs with two outs...Shaw reached base five times, driving in his 48th run with a single in the third...3B Garin Cecchini and C Christian Vazquez added sacrifice flies...Couch gave up eight hits, one walk and four strikeouts.
