JACOBO RACKING UP MULTI-HIT GAMES

First baseman has 10 hits over his last 5 games

Fisher Cats first baseman Gabe Jacobo has been on fire over the past week. Just last night alone, he connected for two home runs in game two of their doubleheader in New Britain, driving in all 5 runs. In fact, he has two hits in each of his last five games, going 10-for-19 (.526), with 3 extra-base hits.

Jacobo, who was selected by the Blue Jays as a Rule 5 pick in December, 2011 away from the Angels, is hitting .347 in his second go-around with the Fisher Cats. He hit .330 in 25 games with New Hampshire last year before an injury, and he had a 22 home run, 107 RBI campaign with the Angels Advanced-A affiliate in 2010.

FUTURE YANKEES IN TOWN THIS WEEKEND WITH SOME EXCELLENT PROSPECTS

We all know about the Yankees. Every year they're a playoff favorite, and while they spend a lot of money on big-name free agents, they also always have a terrific farm system, and this year is no different. When Trenton comes to town, they will have the organization's top prospect and #2 rated catcher in tow, as well as a five-tool outfielder and their next ace left-handed pitcher.

- C Gary Sanchez is the second ranked catcher in all of minor league baseball behind Travis d'Arnaud. At just 20 years old, Sanchez was recently promoted from Advanced-A Tampa where he hit 13 home runs. He is more than just a bat however, as he possesses a terrific throwing arm and is progressing as an overall backstop.

- OF Slade Heathcott has finally stayed healthy for a whole season, and Yankee fans can see why that's good. A true potential five-tool player, he already has the arm, defense, and speed, and the power and average is coming. He plays the game with all-out hustle, which is great as a teammate but bad for your ability to stay on the field, and appears to have gotten past some early maturity issues.

- LHP Nik Turley is a guy you can root for, Yankee fan or not. He was a 50th round pick, number 1,502 overall of the 2008 draft, and compares to Andy Pettitte in that he's a big, strong lefty with good command. He projects to have four above-average major league pitches, who could be in the big leagues next year.

PATRIOTIC PACKAGE OF HAT AND T-SHIRT FOR $30 AT THE TEAM STORE

The Fisher Cats Team Store is offering a pretty nice deal on Patriotic gear. Get a package of a hat and t-shirt (choice of two styles each) for just $30, normally up to a $52 value. With important All-American holidays coming up, like Labor Day and Veterans Day, now is the perfect time to stock up on some great American gear and support your Fisher Cats during the offseason.

The Fisher Cats Team Store is open from 9 AM to 5 PM Monday through Friday and 9:30 AM to 2 PM on Saturday non-game days. When the team is at home, you can shop all day until 15 minutes after the game ends.
