New Britain Rock Cats News Release
New Britain, CT - The New Britain Rock Cats lost to the New Hampshire Fisher Cats by the score of 7-2 on Wednesday Night at New Britain Stadium.
New Hampshire got two runs off of starter RHP B.J. Hermsen in the top of the fourth. RF Brad Glenn scored on SS Kevin Nolan's groundout to short and 1B Glen Jacobo came home on a bloop single that fell in shallow right field, just out of the reach of 2B Eddie Rosario.
C Dan Rohlfing led off the bottom of the fifth with a home run, his first of the season, to cut the Rock Cats deficit in half.
The Fisher Cats broke the game open in the sixth against reliever RHP Dan Sattler. After the visitors loaded the bases with a single and two walks, 2B John Tolisano drove home all three with a double off the wall in deep center. CF Kenny Wilson brought in Tolisano the very next at-bat with a single out to center to make it a 6-1 game.
New Hampshire padded their lead in the seventh when RF Brad Glenn hit a sacrifice fly out to right to bring home 1B Adam Loewen, who tripled to deep center to start the inning.
1B Reynaldo Rodriguez's single to center drove in RF Evan Bigley, who led off with a single to right field and made it a 7-2 score in New Hampshire's favor.
Fisher Cats starter RHP Deck McGuire was very effective in the complete game performance. He held the Rock Cats to two runs on six hits, mixing in four 1-2-3 innings. His record improves to 8-9.
Hermsen limited New Hampshire to just two runs on three hits over five innings but would suffer the loss on the night, seeing his record go to 1-9. Rock Cats relievers combined on the final four innings, allowing five runs, all earned, on four hits while walking three and striking out five.
New Britain will send RHP Trevor May to the hill to face off against New Hampshire's RHP Chad Jenkins. The game will start at 7:05 P.M.
