Brandon Moss and Chad Spann knocked in the go ahead runs in the fifth inning, leading the Sea Dogs to a 5-3 victory over the Reading Phillies at Hadlock Field. Jose Vaquedano (8-4) tossed six strong innings on three runs and eight hits to snap Portland's four-game losing streak.

Randy Beam earned his eighth hold of the season with a scoreless seventh and Edgar Martinez notched his ninth save of the season, working the final two innings. Martinez is 9-for-12 in save opportunities, picking up his first save since June 15 vs. Bowie.

Former Sea Dog Tim McClaskey (2-6) suffered the loss for Reading, surrendering seven hits and five runs in four and 1/3 innings.

Reading scored the game's first run in the second inning when Vaquedano issued a balk, scoring Joey Hammond from third base. In the fourth inning, Moss and Luis Jimenez both singled and Jeremy West blasted a three-run homer. The Phillies came right back in the fifth inning to tie the game on a triple by Peteer Ramos and a Vaquedano wild pitch.

Notes...Jacoby Ellsbury has hit safely in 11 of 12 Double-A starts...Vaquedano becomes the sixth player in the Eastern League with eight wins...Portland now has four players with 50+ RBI (Jimenez, Moss, Spann and West).
