Sea Dogs Swept in a Doubleheader

Portland, Maine - The Binghamton Rumble Ponies (43-50) swept a doubleheader from the Portland Sea Dogs (55-38) on Saturday night winning game one 4-0 and game two 5-3.

In game one Cole Gordon (3-3) tossed a complete-game shutout, holding the Sea Dogs to three hits over the seven-inning contest. Gordon held the hitless until Ronaldo Hernandez singled to lead off the fifth inning. Gordan struck out four and walked two.

Carlos Rincon hit two doubles and drove in three runs to lead the Binghamton offense. Rincon had a two-run double in the third inning and added a double in the fifth scoring Mark Vientos.

Carlos Cortez added a home run in the fifth inning, his 14th of the year.

Hernandez collected two of the three hits for Portland. Tyreque Reed had Portland's only other hit in game one.

Brayan Bello (0-3) took the loss for the Sea Dogs allowing four runs on seven hits in five innings of work. He struck out the side in the fourth inning and finished the night with five punchouts and two walks.

Enmanuel De Jesus pitched two scoreless innings with four strikeouts in relief of Bello.

In game two Jake Mangum delivered a single up the middle with the bases loaded in the sixth inning to score two runs breaking a 3-3 tie leading the Rumble Ponies to a 5-3 victory.

Two errors led to three unearned runs in the second inning as the Rumble Ponies took an early 3-0 lead. Rincon led off the inning with a double. A fielding error by second baseman Cameron Cannon allowed Hayden Senger to reach base. Following a wild pitch by Denyi Reyes to advance the runners, left fielder Tyreque Reed committed a fielding error on a sacrifice fly allowing Rincon to score. Mangum added a two-run double to cap off the inning.

Cameron Cannon launched his first Double-A home run in the third inning, a two-run shot to left field that brought the Sea Dogs within a run of Binghamton.

Jeisson Rosario tied the game an inning later when we blasted his third home run of the year in the Gifford's Pavilion in rightfield.

Matthew Kent tossed 3.1 hitless innings in relief of Reyes with two strikeouts.

The series concludes Sunday afternoon at 1:00 PM. Right-handed pitcher Josh Winckowski (5-3, 4.39) will get the start for the Sea Dogs. While Binghamton will send righty Oscar De La Cruz (1-4, 6.75) to the mound. Radio coverage on the WPEI Sea Dogs Radio Network, built by General Dynamics/ Bath Iron Works, begins at 12:45 PM.
