
Sea Dogs Suffer Second Straight Extra Inning Loss

Portland, Maine- The Portland Sea Dogs (18-17, 58-46) drop their second ten-inning affair with a 5-3 loss to the Hartford Yard Goats (15-18, 44-56) on Wednesday night.
Chase Meidroth recorded his second multi-hit game of the series after going three-for-four with three singles and an RBI. Sterling Sharp matched a season-high with 6.0 innings to start allowing two runs on five hits while striking out six. He did not issue a walk.
Blaze Jordan put Portland on the board first in the bottom of the first inning with an RBI single to score Nick Yorke.
Kyle Datres put Hartford on top with a two-run homer in the bottom of the third inning.
Chase Meidroth recorded his second hit of the day in the bottom of the third. An RBI single to score Corey Rosier tied the game at two.
Elih Marrero put Portland back on top in the bottom of the seventh with an RBI double to left field. His seventh double of the season gave the Sea Dogs the 3-2 lead.
In the top of the eighth, Grant Lavigne tied the game at three with an RBI double to left field.
Tied through nine, the Sea Dogs played into extra innings for the second day in a row. An RBI single from Drew Romo along with an RBI groundout from Bladimir Restituyo gave Hartford the 5-3 lead in the top of the tenth.
RHP Juan Mejia (1-0, 0.00 ERA) earned his first Double-A win tossing 2.0 shutout innings allowing two hits while striking out five. RHP Jacob Webb (7-3, 4.59 ERA) was given the loss pitching 2.0 innings allowing two runs (one earned) while walking two and striking out one. RHP Stephen Jones (4) earned the save pitching a perfect tenth inning with three strikeouts.
The Sea Dogs return to Hadlock Field tomorrow, August 10, 2023 for game three of a six-game series with the Hartford Yard Goats. First pitch for game three is slated for 12:05pm. Portland will start the RHP Hunter Dobbins (2-3, 5.28 ERA) while Hartford will give the ball to RHP Connor Van Scoyoc (0-1, 15.26 ERA).
