
Sea Dogs Rally Back to Win 5-4

Richmond, Va. - The Portland Sea Dogs (24-36) erased an early 4-0 deficit, and defeated the Richmond Flying Squirrels (30-27), 5-4, on Thursday night at the Diamond in Richmond, Virginia. Portland's pitchers closed out the game with 7.2 hitless innings.
The 'Dogs snapped a six-game losing streak and ended Richmond's 6-game win streak.
Portland scored three runs to take the lead for good in the eighth. Luis Martinez (2-for-4, 3 RBI) and Jonathan Roof had RBI singles to tie the game. The game-winning RBI came on Reed Gragnani's sac-fly to left field. Gragnani is a Richmond, Virginia native and finished the night 2-for-3.
Portland scored on 5 of 6 walks issued by Richmond pitchers.
Robby Scott (1-0) retired all four batters with two strikeouts to earn the win. Madison Younginer capped off the perfect night for the bullpen, working 1.2 innings and 2 K's to earn his first Double-A save.
Jose Casilla (2-3) took the loss for the Flying Squirrels, giving up one run in just a 1/3 of an inning.
Richmond sent their entire lineup to the plate in the second, taking a 4-0 lead. Devin Harris knocked in the first run with a double to left. Kelby Tomlinson and Angel Villalona had RBI singles, Myles Schroder had a sac-fly. Mike Augliera would not allow a hit after the second, finishing with a no-deicsion, giving up 5 hits and 4 runs over 6 IP.
The Sea Dogs cut the deficit in half in the third inning, knocking Adalberto Mejia out of the game. With two outs, Dave Sappelt (0-for-2, 2 BB in his Red Sox Organizational debut) and Jantzen Witte (0-for-2, 3 BB) walked, Oscar Tejeda was hit. Martinez delivered a two-run single to left field. Mejia took a no-decision, giving up 3 hits and 2 runs over 2.2 IP.
Portland finished the season series dropping 4 of 6 to Portland.
The Sea Dogs open up a three-game series with the Bowie Baysox (Orioles affiliate) on Friday night at Prince George's Stadium, first pitch is 6:35 PM. Heri Quevedo (0-1, 1.80) makes his second start of the season for Portland. Parker Bridwell (2-3, 4.58) gets the ball for Bowie. Pre-Game coverage begins live on the WPEI U.S. Cellular Sea Dogs Radio Network at 6:15 PM.
