Portland Sea Dogs News Release
Portland, Maine- The Portland Sea Dogs have teamed up with The Barbara Bush Children's Hospital and Sable Oaks Golf Course to bring you the sixth annual "Slugger Open". The golf tournament will be held on Friday, August 10th at Sable Oaks in South Portland. The tournament is to benefit the Barbara Bush Children's Hospital at Maine Medical Center. Sea Dogs players expected to take part in the event include Jeff Corsaletti, Cory Keylor, and Chad Spann.
The tournament will begin at 8:00am and will conclude with a picnic and baseball game at Hadlock Field that evening. The Portland Sea Dogs Slugger Open is a unique event that allows you to play golf with your friends and co-workers in the morning and cap the day off with your family at a Sea Dogs baseball game, all while raising funds for The Barbara Bush Children's Hospital. All golfers in the sixth annual Slugger Open will receive; a day of golf with friends and co-workers, a Slugger Open golf shirt, Portland Sea Dogs golf balls, the opportunity to play golf with Red Sox Minor Leaguers (future Boston Red Sox?), continental breakfast and lunch, prizes for net, gross, longest drive, and closest to the pin, and two tickets to the Sea Dogs game complete with an all-you-eat picnic. The Sea Dogs will take on the Harrisburg Senators (Nationals) at 7:00pm.
As a non-profit organization, The Barbara Bush Children's Hospital benefits from the generous philanthropic and volunteer support from communities statewide. Funds raised in 2006 will help provide funding for programs critical to the overall operation of the Barbara Bush Children's Hospital and the children and families that they serve. The focus of funding for this fiscal year will support education and advocacy for the Kids Co Op, Child Life, Pediatric Surgery, Pediatric Critical Care, and the Pediatric Emergency Care Units. Additional resources will be used to fund capital equipment needs such as a security system for infants, non-invasive blood pressure machines, airborne transport isolettes, and incubators for our most tiny and fragile newborns.
