New Britain Rock Cats News Release
New Britain, CT - The New Britain Rock Cats, AA affiliate of the American League's Minnesota Twins, announced this afternoon that they are adding a Relief Pitcher - RHP Armando Gabino - to their Eastern League roster. The 23-year-old resident of Santiago, Dominican Republic will be joining his new team tomorrow night when the Rock Cats play in Akron, OH.
Gabino is a 6'3"/220-pound right-hander that Minnesota acquired from Cleveland in the 2004 Rule V Minor League Draft. Originally selected as an Infielder, Gabino was converted to a Pitcher by the Indians organization in 2003. Today's call-up is his first promotion to the Double-A classification.
In 26 appearances for the 2007 Ft. Myers Miracle in the Single-A Florida State League, Gabino compiled a record of 2 Wins and 2 Losses, with 4 Saves. He worked a total of 37 innings - all in relief - and posted a 3.16 ERA.
