Binghamton Rumble Ponies News Release

Chase Wright tossed six shutout innings, helping the Trenton Thunder beat the Binghamton Mets 8-0 at NYSEG Stadium Thursday. The game was called because of rain in the top of the ninth. The B-Mets still took two of the three games in the series.

Trenton (67-49) got on the board in the third thanks to three straight two-out hits off Jose Sanchez, with Colin Curtis and Jamal Strong picking up RBI singles before Juan Miranda followed with a two-run double to make it 4-0. Gabriel Lopez added a two-out RBI single in the fourth. All five of those runs were unearned.

Miranda's three-run homer off Sanchez (3-6) in the fifth capped off the scoring.

Binghamton (50-65) had baserunners in five of Wright's (4-1) six innings, but were unable to get a run on the board. The game was called after a 55-minute rain delay with two on and no outs in the top of the ninth.

Friday, the Binghamton Mets begin a three-game series against the Bowie Baysox. Kevin Mulvey (9-9, 3.25) will start for the B-Mets against Fredy Deza (5-7, 4.41) of Bowie. Game time is 7:05 from Prince Georges Stadium with the radio broadcast starting at 6:50 on Newsradio 1290 WNBF. Notes: the B-Mets were shut out for the seventh time this season...Trenton pitchers have recorded 15 shutouts. No other EL team has more than eight...B-Mets third baseman Vince Harrison was charged with three errors, becoming the first B-Met to commit that many errors in a game since shortstop Anderson Hernandez 5/7/05 @ ERI.
