Harrisburg Senators News Release

The Harrisburg Senators and Wilsbach Distributors announced today that the world famous Budweiser Clydesdales will make an appearance on City Island on Friday, August 31st, prior to the Senators' game with the Reading Phillies at 6:35 P.M.

Wilsbach and Budweiser have been sponsors of Harrisburg Senators Baseball since the team returned to City Island in 1987. This long-standing relationship has allowed for this special visit, which will take place in the City Island parking lot from 4:00 to 6:30 P.M. on August 31st.

The Clydesdales are a group of horses steeped in history. The Clydesdales are famous as the Budweiser mascots and stars of many television commercials.

In 1933, August A. Busch, Jr. gave a hitch of Clydesdales to his father in celebration of the resumption of brewing in St. Louis following the repeal of Prohibition. Clydesdales--a powerful breed of draft horses--originated in the Clyde valley of Scotland, and they are known for the distinctive, feathery hair on their fetlocks--the lower parts of their legs above and behind the hooves.

Fans will be able to see the Clydesdales up close and this event will provide all in attendance a rare opportunity to take photos. For more information, contact the Senators at 231-4444.
