NEWS AND NOTES

WELCOME TO PORTLAND : RHP Elih Villanueva makes his debut in the Red Sox system, as the Portland Sea Dogs and Binghamton Rumble Ponies (Mets affiliate) end a four-game series on Sunday afternoon at NYSEG Stadium...Villanueva was pitching for the Lancaster Barnstormers of the Atlantic League, and had his contract purchased by the Red Sox and assigned to Portland...With a win today, the 'Dogs would split the four-game series and finish the trip 3-5.

SPLIT ON SATURDAY : The Rumble Ponies received a complete-game from Seth Lugo (MLB Rehab) and scored four runs in the first inning, taking the opener 5-1... Rafael Devers hit his 10th homer for the 'Dogs' lone run...In game two, Jacob Dahlstrand (4-1) worked five scoreless frames on four hits, as Portland won 2-0... Jeremy Barfield hit a two-run homer in the sixth inning off losing pitcher PJ Conlon (5-4)... Josh Smith earned his first save in the Red Sox system.
