Anderson Strong in Series Win Over 'Ducks

Akron, OH- Reading Fightin Phils (29-24) starting pitcher Drew Anderson (4-2) pitched a solid performance on Sunday afternoon in Reading's 4-3 win over the Akron RubberDucks (24-28). He allowed just one run off three hits with no walks and five strikeouts.

Bobby Bradley got the RubberDucks on the board 1-0 in the bottom of the 4th inning as he hit a home run with two outs off Anderson. The home run was his eighth of the season. Akron's Thomas Panonne was solid on the mound as he pitched 6 2/3 scoreless innings. He struck out five batters while giving up just four hits.

Leandro Linares (0-1) would enter the game with two outs in the top of the 7th for the RubberDucks. He gave up a single to Nick Rickles then walked Malquin Canelo and Zach Coppola. Angelo Mora sent all three home as he hit a three-run double off Linares to give the Fightin Phils a 3-1 lead. The double was his seventh of the season. Akron committed two errors in the inning.

Mitch Walding extended Reading's lead to 4-1 in the top of the 8th against Cole Sulser. Osmel Aguila hit a one-out double then scored on Walding's RBI single. Austin Davis gave up two runs to the RubberDucks in the bottom of the 8th inning as Reading's lead was cut to 4-3.

Colton Murray pitched 1 1/3 scoreless innings to earn his second save of the season. Reading wins the only series between the two teams at Canal Park.
