Hartford Yard Goats News Release

Hartford- Using timely hitting and clutch pitching, the Hartford Yard Goats jumped out to a four-run lead then held on for a 6-4 win over the New Hampshire Fisher Cats Sunday afternoon, before another sellout crowd of 6,723 at Dunkin' Donuts Park. It was the fourth straight sellout for the Yard Goats and 12th of the season. The three-game series drew 20,338 and the four sellouts attracted 26,901.

The Yard Goats took two of three from the Blue Jays affiliate and completed a 4-2 homestand.

Much as he did Friday night, closer Shane Broyles rescued the Yard Goats, this time with a five-out save. Broyles escaped a jam in the eighth inning, after New Hampshire cut the lead to one run. The righthander struck out two batters with the bases loaded to end the frame, then retired the top of the New Hampshire batting order in succession, striking out the first two batters, to notch his fifth save.

Omar Carrizales provided some breathing room with an RBI-single in the eighth inning, scoring Jan Vazquez, who had reached on a single and moved to second on a balk. Carrizales collected three hits and knocked in two runs to pace the Hartford attack. Ashley Graeter and Drew Weeks belted solo home runs in the fifth inning to give the Goats a four-run advantage. Graeter had two hits on the afternoon.

Broyles' performance preserved the win for Parker French (5-4), who began the homestand with a victory. French hurled six innings and allowed three runs on four hits. He walked three and struck out one.

Following a day off on Monday, the Yard Goats open a six-game road trip Tuesday in Trenton, NJ against the Yankees' affiliate. Lefthander Sam Howard will pitch for Hartford against lefthander Josh Rogers for the Thunder. Game time is 7:00 p.m. and the contest can be heard on AM 1410 WPOP and on iHeart Radio.
