SHORT TRIP TO TRENTON : The Portland Sea Dogs and Trenton Thunder (Yankees affiliate) open up a 3-game series on Monday night at Arm & Hammer Park...Portland returns home on Thursday night after this short 3-game trip, taking on the Hartford Yard Goats (Rockies affiliate) in a 5-game series...Portland needs a series win to clinch their first winning month on the road since May of last year...RHP Keith Couch was activated from the temporary inactive list earlier today and makes the start in the series opener.
NATE WAS GREAT! : Nate Freiman blasted a game-winning 3-run homer in the eighth inning, leading the Sea Dogs past the Reading Fightin Phils, 9-8, Sunday afternoon at Hadlock Field...Austin Maddox (2-2) tossed two scoreless on one hit and fanned two to earn the win, as the 'Dogs bullpen fanned 10 over 5 scoreless frames...Nik Turley recorded 8 K's over 3 innings on 2 hits...Portland's top 3: Yoan Moncada, Mauricio Dubon and Andrew Benintendi reached base 10 times, collecting 7 hits, 2 walks and a hit-by-pitch.
