Fox Walk-off Home Run Beats SeaWolves

Reading Fightin Phils News Release


Jake Fox hit a walk-off home run off Erie SeaWolves (34-44) reliever Adam Ravenelle (0-1) in the bottom of the ninth to give the Reading Fightin Phils (54-23) an 8-7 win. It was Fox's 13th home run of the season and Reading's 11th walk-off win of the season.

Harold Martinez hit a RBI double off SeaWolves starter Cory Riordan to get the Fightin Phils on the board 1-0 in the bottom of the second inning. Dylan Cozens hit a grand slam off Riordan in the bottom of the fourth to extend the Fightins lead to 5-0. The last grand slam hit by a Fightin was Joel Fisher on June 2nd in Portland.

Erie scored two runs in the top of the fourth off Mark Leiter Jr. as Dominic Ficociello hit a two-run double. The SeaWolves got another run in the top of the fifth as Casey Frawley scored on a groundout from Harold Castro. Jesmuel Valentin scored on a wild pitch in the bottom of the fourth to give Reading a 6-2 lead.

Leiter Jr. left the game in the top of the sixth with two runners on and one out. Jeremy Bleich entered the game and struck out Kody Eaves before giving up a three-run home run to Grayson Greiner.

Erie took a 7-6 lead in the top of the eighth against Joely Rodriguez (5-0) as Ficociello scored on a fielder's choice by Eaves. KC Serna tied the game at 7-7 in the bottom of the eighth with a RBI groundout.

The Fightin Phils and Erie SeaWolves play again on Tuesday night. First pitch is at 7:05 pm. Fans can listen to the game on Sports Radio AM 1240/FM 98.5 and fightins.com beginning at 6:35 pm. Fans can watch the game on MiLB.tv beginning at 7:05 pm.
