Scrappers fall in a Walk Off in 10 Innings

Auburn, NY- The Mahoning Valley Scrappers struggled offensively through the first 6 innings on Saturday night. In the 7th they strung together 3 straight hits to grab a 3-2 lead but a sloppy defensive in the bottom of the 9th inning cost them the lead and sent the game to extra innings where Andruth Ramirez delivered a walk off sac fly to score Isaac Ballou to beat the Scrappers 4-3.

The Scrappers first run of the game came in the 3rd innings without a hit. Joel Mejia walked with 2 outs and scored from first when Claudio Bautista reached on an error. The Scrappers would not get their first hit until the top of the 7th. Nellie Rodriguez led off the inning with a single and then scored from first on Robel Garcia's 3rd triple of the season. Garcia scored 2 pitches later when Paul Hendrix singled him home for the go ahead run. Hendrix extended his road hitting streak to 15 games.

Dace Kime started for Mahoning Valley and struggled with his command early. He worked just 2 innings while allowing 2 hits and 1 run. Kime walked 6 and struck out 2. Matt Whitehouse worked 2 scoreless inning following Kime. Whitehouse allowed 2 hits and struck out 1 while walking 1. Alexis Paredes worked the following 2 innings. He allowed 1 run on 3 hits. He walked 1 and struck out 1. Briely Puerta went 2 innings and allowed a hit while striking out 3. Trevor Frank (1-4) worked the 9th and 10th innings. He allowed 2 runs on 2 hits. He struck out 2 and walked none.
