Spikes Thwart Jammers' Rally

Jamestown Jammers News Release


On a great night for baseball in Jamestown, the Jammers gave the ball to Isaac Sanchez looking for him to end a two game slide. Nick Petree would get the start for the State College who sported a 0.97 ERA coming in to the game. The Spikes would come out on top 5-3, behind Alex De Leon who went 2-4 with a Single and Solo Home Run.

Sanchez would get off to a bit of a rocky start allowing the first three men to reach base, however he recovered by retiring three straight to limit the damage to two runs. He would rebound getting the Spikes 1-2-3 in the 2nd and 3rd innings before allowing a run 4th.

Adam Frazier and Edwin Espinal would do their part trying to spark the offense combining to pick up the first four Jamestown hits. The Jammers would get the message in the fifth picking up three hits and plating their first run on a single by who else Adam Frazier who would advance to 2nd on an error by Steven Ramos.

Jackson Lodge would enter the game in the 5th inning and breeze through 2 and 1/3 innings before giving up a Solo Home Run to Matthew Young in the top of the 7th inning. The Jammers would threaten in the bottom half of the inning as Elvis Escobar doubled to left and advance to third on a wild pitch, but would be stranded there.

Andrew Otamendi threw a scoreless 8th inning, and gave way to Kevin Kleis for the 9th. Kleis would give up a solo home run in the 9th, before getting through his first action since being activated with relative ease. Adam Landecker would lead off the Bottom of the 9th with an infield single in his first NYPL at bat. Erich Weiss would walk before Espinal singled to right field to load the bases. Elvis Escobar would pick up an RBI on a force out, and Justin Maffei singled to left driving in a second run for the Jammers. Adam Frazier would reach base on a fielder's choice, however Brett Wiley would hit Maffei with the throw which would load the bases back up with Michael Fransoso. Fransoso would line out to 2nd sharply resulting in a double play to end the game.

Also of note, Candon Myles called up today from the GCL Pirates recorded his first NYPL hit in the 8th inning going 1-2 in his debut.

The Jammers will welcome the Auburn Doubledays to Jamestown tomorrow for the start of a two game set. Tomorrow's game is the final Sunday Family Funday of the season with a 4:05 start time.
