Scrappers Double Header on Thursday

GAME ONE:

In game one on Thursday night it was the Ironbirds that would score first. In third they plated four runs off of Scrapper starter Russell Young. It was a three run home run by Ironbird DH Jacob Julius and a solo home run by third baseman Tyler Koldony.

The Ironbirds added another run in the top of the fifth when Tyler Baxter lifted a sacrifice fly to right to drive in their fifth run of the game and after four and a half it was 5-0 Ironbirds. The Scrappers scored their first run in the bottom of the fifth when Walter Diaz delivered an RBI single. Then in the sixth the Scrappers added their second run when Brock Simpson hit his first home run of the season and after six innings it was 5-2 Ironbirds. The Scrappers were held off the board in the seventh and dropped game one 5-2.

GAME TWO:

In game two the Scrappers scored first in the first when Lonnie Chisenhall delivered an RBI single, and then Juan Valdes drove in run number two when he reached on a fielder's choice. The Scrappers held the 2-0 lead until the top of the third when the Ironbirds tied the game up at 2-2 when Jacob Julies hit a two run home run.

Scrapper starter Brad Hinkle worked the first four innings, he gave up two runs walked none and struck out eight.

Both bullpens took over in the middle innings and the game remained tied 2-2 after five full innings. In the sixth the Ironbirds manufactured a run scoring inning when they collected three two out base hits that was capped off by an RBI single by Chad Durakis. The Scrappers responded in the bottom of the sixth when Ramon Hernandez walked, then scored when pinch hitter Brock Simpson delivered an RBI double and we were tied at 3-3.

Only to see the Ironbirds respond and take the lead back 4-3 on Caleb Joseph deliver an RBI triple and the Ironbirds took a 4-3 lead heading to the bottom of the seventh. In the bottom of the seventh the Scrappers were retired quickly and fell in game two 4-3.
