State College Spikes News Release
-SPIKES AND SPINNERS TO FINISH SUSPENDED GAME AGAIN: After the completion of Tuesday night's suspended game, which finished in favor of Lowell, a power outage caused by storms in the area stopped the second game, and heavy rains forced its suspension with the score tied at two in the fourth inning. Thus, Wednesday's regularly scheduled game will be finished at 6:05, with a seven-inning game to follow.
-LAST NIGHT: Lowell's Jeff Natale hit a walk-off solo home run with two outs in the bottom of the ninth to beat the Spikes, 4-3, in the completion of Tuesday's suspended game. The Spikes had tied the game in the top of the ninth when Chad Rice scored on Silvio Pena's single. Pena ended up with three hits in the game. Ciro Rosero had two doubles and scored a run. Chris Simmons also had a double as one of his two hits.
-STATUS OF THE SUSPENDED GAME: The Spikes and Spinners are tied, 2-2, with the fifth inning about to start. Kade Keowen gave Lowell the lead, 1-0, with a solo home run in the bottom of the second inning. After Lowell scored again for a two-run lead, the Spikes tied it up in the top of the fourth. Jeremy Farrell led off with a home run, his first of the year. Then with two outs, Mark Carver singled home Butch Biela for the game-tying run. The game will resume with Chad Rice leading off the Spikes' fifth.
-TONIGHT'S GAME TWO SPIKES STARTER: Ramon Aguero is set to go for State College. The right-hander will make his seventh appearance and fourth start of the year. Aguero picked up his first win of the year in his last start, going 4.2 innings in relief of Brian Leach against Jamestown. Aguero allowed two runs, one earned, on two hits and a walk. Aguero now has a 4.73 ERA in July after posting a 10.29 ERA in June.
-TONIGHT'S GAME TWO SPINNERS STARTER: Kyle Weiland is the scheduled game two starter for Lowell. The right-hander has recently become a starter, and makes his third start of 2008 after making his first five appearances in relief. Last time out, Weiland allowed one unearned run on two hits, two hit batsmen, and two walks while striking out six.
