Lowell Spinners News Release
LOWELL, MA - The torrential downpours that have soaked New England over the past week and caused havoc to the Lowell Spinners have led to the Spinners' July 24 double-header being postponed due to unsafe field conditions. There is no make-up date scheduled for either the suspended game from Wednesday, July 23 or for the regularly scheduled July 24 game.
The Spinners three-game series against the State College Spikes has had two suspended games prior to tonight's cancellation. Tonight's game was cancelled as a result of the unsafe field conditions created by the continuous rain.
This evening's regularly scheduled Clay Buchholz "No-Hitter" Bobble Head Giveaway, sponsored by Sovereign Bank, has been pushed back to Thursday, Aug. 7 against the Brooklyn Cyclones.
The Spinners had just started the top of the fifth inning last night tied at two when lightning knocked out the power and caused the game to be suspended. Lowell won the first game of the series on a walk-off home run by Jeff Natale and was looking to extend their season high three-game winning streak tonight.
Any fans holding a ticket for the July 24 game may exchange that ticket in person for a ticket of equal or lesser value to any remaining 2008 regular season home game, based on availability. If a fan receives a lesser value ticket, the fan will receive the difference back in Spinners Dollars. Tickets can not be exchanged for Spinners Dollars unless all remaining tickets are sold.
For example: If the fan had a $8 ticket and exchanged it for a $5 seat then the fan will receive an additional $3.00 back in Spinners Dollars. Spinners Dollars can be used at concession and merchandise stands and will expire on December 31 of this year.
The Spinners ticket office is open Monday - Friday from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. and the phone number is 978-459-1702.
