The Mahoning Valley Scrappers defeated the West Virginia Black Bears 15-7 in Morgantown, W.Va on Friday night. The time of the game was 3:57, which would have been the second longest game of the 2014 season. Mahoning Valley's 15 runs also ties the team high in runs scored from 2014 (W 15-5 on June 22 vs. Auburn).

Emmanuel Tapia and Anthony Santander hit back-to-back home runs to kick off the heavy scoring in the top of the third inning. Santander also had a double and triple in the game. He was a triple shy of hitting for the cycle.

Tapia and Santander combined to have six of the 11 Scrapper hits.

Casey Shane went four innings in his season debut. He struck out four and didn't allow any earned runs. Jose Zapata came in for the fifth and sixth innings and shut the door on the Black Bears. He struck out four of the seven batters he faced. He earned the win.

Pittsburgh's top prospect, Tyler Glasnow, made a rehab start for the Black Bears. He has spent the majority of the season with AA Altoona. He allowed two earned runs in 1.1 IP. He earned the loss.

Mahoning Valley pitchers gave up 10 walks. Two of those walks allowed runs to score for West Virginia. Nine of the 10 walks came in the last three innings.

Mahoning Valley sends Leandro Linares to the mound on Saturday. He will make his Scrappers debut. Coverage begins at 6:45 on Sports Radio 1240. First pitch is set for 7:05.
