
Weather Suspends Play in Aberdeen

Aberdeen, MD (6/20/15)- The Hudson Valley Renegades and the Aberdeen IronBirds were tied at 1-1 when weather postponed play with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning at Ripken Stadium on Saturday night. The two teams will resume the game from the point of interruption on Sunday at 4:35pm before playing game three of the series thirty minutes after the conclusion of the first game, which will be a seven-inning contest.
Aberdeen scored the games first run in the bottom of the first inning when with two outs, left fielder Ademar Rifaela reached on a single and scored on third baseman Ronarsy Ledesma's RBI triple. The Renegades tied the score at one in the top of the third inning when catcher Danny De La Calle led off the inning with the double and scored on center fielder Angel Moreno's two-out RBI double.
Both starting pitchers had strong outings in their season debuts. Hudson Valley's Cameron Varga went five innings, allowing one run off three hits while Aberdeen's Travis Seabrooke struck out six in five and a third innings and allowed a run off three hits.
The game will resume in the bottom of the seventh inning with IronBirds catcher Stuart Levy's spot at bat with a 2-2 count and a runner at third base with two outs.
Notes: Varga picked up right where he left off in 2014 after going 3-1 in ten appearances in his rookie season between playing with the Gulf Coast League Rays and the Princeton Rays of the Appalachian League. In his five innings on the mound, he threw 67 pitches with 46 of them being strikes while walking just one batter on the night
The Renegades will play their home opener at Dutchess Stadium on Monday, June 22nd as they host the Lowell Spinners with first pitch at 6:35pm.
