
Scott Campbell hits second home run of season for Fisher Cats

Portland, ME- Scott Campbell hit a two-run home run in the top of the fifth inning but the New Hampshire Fisher Cats fell 8-3 to the Portland Sea Dogs before 7,368 Sunday afternoon at Hadlock Field.
Portland (49-51) took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning. Ryan Kalish walked and moved to third base on a single by Jorge Jimenez (2-for-4, RBI). He scored on a sacrifice fly by Jon Still.
New Hampshire starter Rey Gonzalez (4-6), who was making his first start since July 8, left the game after the sacrifice fly. He worked just 0.2 innings, allowing one hit and one run, but suffered the loss.
Portland added five more runs over the next two innings against reliever Adrian Martin. In the second inning, Juan Apodaca (2-for-3, 2 R, 4 RBI) had an RBI double, Josh Reddick an RBI single and Jorge Jimenez grounded into a force play to make it 4-0. Apodaca hit a two-run home run over the "Maine Monster" in the last of the third inning as the Sea Dogs lead swelled to 6-0.
The first Fisher Cats (46-55) run came across in the top of the fourth inning on consecutive doubles by Brad Emaus (2-for-3, R) and David Cooper off Portland starter Adam Mills (8-5).
In the top of the fifth inning, after Darin Mastroianni reached on an error, Scott Campbell hit a two-run home run to cut the deficit to 6-3. It was Campbell's second home run of the season.
Portland starter Adam Mills (8-5) left after five innings, allowing three runs (one earned), on five hits. He walked one and struck out two. Mills won his sixth consecutive decision and became the first pitcher since Josh Beckett to record five wins in a month for the Sea Dogs.
Portland scored single runs in the bottom of the seventh and eighth innings. Juan Apodaca's fourth RBI of the game was a bases-loaded sacrifice fly in the seventh inning. Iggy Suarez scored the final run in the eighth on a double-play grounder by Kalish.
The Fisher Cats open a four-game series at Merchantsauto.com Stadium against the New Britain Rock Cats on tomorrow night at 7:05pm.
