
Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre hosts fundraising concert

Victoria, BC - The Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre and the Victoria Salmon Kings, affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks and the Manitoba Moose, are proud to announce a celebration of music with the Victoria Symphony and students of Victoria School District 61. Beginning at 2:30 p.m. on February 25th 2007, a combination of band, strings and choir pieces will resonate through the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre at the hands and voices of over 1,600 students.
Tania Miller, the Victoria Symphony's music director, will conduct the historical performance named The Rink Cycle, which will be comprised of students from schools including, but not limited to, Colquitz, Spectrum, Central, Lambrick Park, Glanford, Cedar Hill, Arbutus, Landsdowne, Gordon Head, Mount Doug, Oak Bay, and Reynolds. All of the proceeds from the concert will help fund music programs in Victoria.
"I believe that it is important to strongly support music education in our schools," said Miller. "The impact that music has on the lives of young people and on their thinking and creative skills is significant. This concert is part of the Victoria Symphony's quest to underline the value of music education for everyone."
Tickets are on sale through Select Your Tickets beginning at 10:00 a.m. today (Dec 18), and can be purchased at the box office at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre, by phone at (250) 220-7777, or online at www.selectyourtickets.com.
Ticket prices are as follows: $5 student/child, $10 adult, $22 for a family (two adults, two children).
