
Phoenix's Smith Becomes Ninth Player In History With Nine-Game Goal Streak

Smith scored a goal in each of Phoenix's three games at Texas last week
extending his goal streak to nine games to become only the ninth ECHL
player in the last 15 years to have a nine-game goal streak.
In his third professional season, the 25-year-old began his streak on Nov.
25 when he had two goals and three points, the only multiple-goal game in
the streak. He has 10 goals and 12 points during the streak and 12 goals
and 19 points in 22 games.
The last ECHL player to have a nine-game goal streak was current
Bakersfield Condors assistant coach Mark Pederson, who had 12 goals for the
San Diego Gulls from Dec. 28, 2003-Jan. 17, 2004. Keith Anderson of Florida
also had a nine-game streak in 2003-04 scoring 11 goals from Oct. 18-Nov.
9.
Mathieu Benoit of Charlotte was the last ECHL player to have a 10-game goal
streak, scoring 14 goals from Dec. 23, 2000-Feb. 2, 2001, and was only the
second since 1992-93 to reach the 10-game plateau.
The ECHL goal streak record is 16 games by Darren Schwartz, who had 25
goals from Jan. 14-Feb. 21, 1993, of the Wheeling Thunderbirds while the
second longest streak is 13 games by Kirby Lindal of Raleigh from Dec. 12,
1992-Jan. 24, 1993. The third-longest goal streak is 12 games by Joe Gurney
of Johnstown from Nov. 6-Nov. 26, 1988 and the fourth-longest is 11 games
by Rick Judson of Toledo, who had 13 goals from Dec. 9, 1995-Jan. 5, 1996.
Season-High Four Hat Tricks On Dec. 15 Bring Season Total To
29
There were a season-high four hat tricks scored on Dec. 15 and there were
five hat tricks scored for the week. The five hat tricks ties the season
high for hat tricks in a week set Nov. 27-Dec. 3 while the four surpasses
the previous best of three hat tricks on Nov. 17 and Dec. 1. The ECHL
record for hat tricks in a day is six set on Oct. 23, 1993 and tied on Feb.
26, 1994, Feb. 23, 1996 and Feb. 14, 2004.

Magowan of Toledo and Philippe
Dupuis of Dayton scored their hat tricks in Dayton's 5-3 win against
Toledo while Shane
Hynes of Augusta scored his in a 6-5 loss to Florida and Bruce
Graham of Charlotte had his in a 5-2 win against Trenton. The fifth hat
trick of the week was scored by Todd
Griffith of Bakersfield in a 6-4 win against Victoria on Dec. 16.
In the first 300 games of the season, there have been 29 hat tricks,
including three four-goal games. There have been seven days with multiple
hat tricks - four days with two hat tricks, two days with three hat tricks
and one day with four hat tricks.
The record for teams who have a player score a hat trick is 23-6 including
2-1 when a player scores four goals.
The only player with multiple three-goal games this season is Dusty
Jamieson who scored a hat trick in each of Charlotte's first two games
on Oct. 20 and 21, becoming only the fifth player since 1997 to score three
goals in back-to-back games.
Reading leads the ECHL with four hat tricks scored by four different
players - Arpad
Mihaly (Nov. 10 vs. Toledo), Shawn
Collymore (Nov. 17 vs. Toledo), Chris
Bala (Nov. 25 vs. Wheeling) and Joe
Zappala (Dec. 10 vs. Trenton). Charlotte and Columbia each have three
hat tricks while Augusta, Bakersfield, Florida, Johnstown and Texas each
have two hat tricks. Dayton, Fresno, Gwinnett, Long Beach, Phoenix, Toledo,
Trenton, Utah and Victoria have each scored one hat trick while Alaska,
Cincinnati, Idaho, Las Vegas, Pensacola, South Carolina, Stockton and
Wheeling have not had a player record three goals in a game.
Alaska, Bakersfield, Cincinnati, Columbia, Gwinnett, Long Beach and
Stockton have not allowed an opponent to score a hat trick while Charlotte,
Dayton, Fresno, Idaho, Johnstown, Las Vegas, Phoenix, Reading, Texas and
Victoria have all given up one hat trick. Pensacola, Toledo and Wheeling
have each allowed three hat tricks while Augusta, Florida, South Carolina,
Trenton and Utah have surrendered two apiece.
Everblades Win Six Straight, Move Into First-Place Tie
The Florida Everblades have won their last six games, with all six wins
coming on the road, to improve to 18-7-0 and move into a first-place tie
with the Texas Wildcatters (17-5-2) in the South Division of the American
Conference.
The Everblades return home to host South Carolina on Friday and Saturday
while Texas will play at Pensacola on Friday and Saturday.
The six consecutive wins is the longest active and second-longest streak of
the season while the six consecutive road wins is the longest active and
second-longest road streak of the year. Florida has outscored its opponents
31-21 during the current streak and is 11-2-0 overall on the road.

Bellissimo leads the Everblades during the streak with 12 points
(4g-8a) and Reggie
Berg has scored in all six games for 11 points (3g-8a). Dustin
Johner (5g-4a) and Brent
McDonald (4g-5a) each have nine points in the last six games while Mike
Angelidis has also scored in all six games for seven points (4g-3a).
Between the pipes during the streak, Craig
Kowalski is 3-0-0 with a goals-against average of 3.33 and rookie David
Shantz is 3-0-0 with a goals-against average of 3.67.
