The Savannah Sand Gnats came from behind for a 5-4 win over the Lexington Legends Monday night in Savannah.

The Legends jumped on top with two runs in the first inning. Delino DeShields Jr. led off with a double, and Jay Austin singled him to third. Savannah starter Gonzalez Germen struck out Telvin Nash and Ben Heath, but Mike Kvasnicka doubled to right center field, scoring DeShields and Austin.

Another two-out hit by Kvasnicka helped the Legends add to their lead in the third inning. DeShields bunted for a single, and Austin walked. Nash singled to left field, loading the bases. Heath grounded into a third-to-home-to first double play, but Kvasnicka singled to right, scoring Austin from third and giving the Legends a 3-0 lead.

Savannah scored twice in the fourth to cut the lead to one. A single by Rafael Fernandez and a double by Blake Forsythe put runners at second and third. Albert Cordero's sacrifice fly scored Fernandez, and Forsythe came home when Aderlin Rodriguez grounded out to third.

Heath answered with a solo homer in the top of the fifth to give the Legends a 4-2 advantage.

The Sand Gnats took the lead with three runs in the bottom of the sixth. Wilfredo Tovar led off with a single and moved to third on a double by Fernandez. After Jason Chowning relieved starter Mike Foltynewicz for Lexington, Forsythe struck out, but Cordero singled, scoring Tovar and Fernandez and tying the game at 4-4. Cordero, who has nine runs batted in in the series, advanced to second on the throw back to the infield, and held there as Rodriguez grounded out to shortstop. Joe Bonfe grounded to Kvasnicka at third, but the throw got past Tyler Burnett at first base, and Cordero scored the go-ahead run. Burnett was charged with the error.

Relievers Chase Huchingson and Ronny Morla combined to shut out the Legends over the last four innings. Huchingson (6-2) got the win, and Morla picked up his eighth save. Chowning (3-3) took the loss. Savannah has won the first three games of the series, which concludes Tuesday. Game time is 11:05 a.m.
