Chicago Wolves News Release
The Chicago Wolves will host a series of events in support of the City of Chicago's Department of Animal Care and Control (ACC), with which the team has partnered for 10 seasons of the Adopt-A-Dog program, at their game at the Allstate Arena on Sat., Feb. 19, at 7 p.m.
Wolves Chairman of the Board DON LEVIN will open the night's events by presenting a donation of $164,000 to the ACC to help them continue to assist the more than 24,000 animals that come through the shelter every year. Chicago Animal Care and Control Executive Director Cherie Travis and Alderman Mary Ann Smith will be on hand to accept the donation.
¬ÅThe success of the Wolves Adopt-A-Dog program has been extraordinary to watch and we are incredibly proud to have been able to help nearly 900 dogs find homes with our fans, but it is important to acknowledge the animals that remain in the care of the ACC, ¬Â said LEVIN. ¬ÅThe Wolves and I are proud to be able to make this donation to support the continued care of Chicago's animals in need. ¬Â
In addition, fans can bring new pet toys, treats and food to the game for an ¬ÅAdopt-A-Dog Drive, ¬Â sponsored by Pedigree and Pet Supplies ¬ÅPlus. ¬Â All collected items will be donated to the animals at the ACC and every fan who donates an item will receive a raffle ticket for a chance to win a JASON KROG autographed stick and other Wolves prizes.
The team will also host its fifth of seven Adopt-A-Dog nights, presented by Pedigree and Pet Supplies ¬ÅPlus, ¬Â at the game. Fans can visit ¬ÅKrogger's Canines ¬Â - named after center JASON KROG, team spokesman for the program - in the South lobby throughout the game on Saturday and visit with dogs available for adoption at the game.
The team has helped find homes for nearly 900 dogs in 10 seasons of the program, which includes sending all 23 dogs at the Jan. 8 Adopt-A-Dog night home with fans.
Prospective owners must go through a screening process and pay a $65 fee, which includes spaying or neutering, all vaccinations and a Chicago license for the new pet. Those who do not live in Chicago will be charged a $54.50 fee, which does not include a pet license. Puppies less than three months old and too young for the rabies vaccination can be adopted for a reduced rate.
The team will also host Adopt-A-Dog nights at the games on Sat., March 26 and Sat., April 9.
