
'Canes Recall Brett Carson from Charlotte

RALEIGH, NC - Jim Rutherford, President and General Manager of the National Hockey League's Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has recalled defenseman Brett Carson from the Charlotte Checkers of the American Hockey League (AHL).
Carson, 25, has played in eight NHL games in 2010-11, earning a plus-4 rating and averaging 10:33 of ice time per game. In 38 AHL games this season with Charlotte, Carson (6'4", 210 lbs.) has scored four goals, earned 16 assists (20 points) and is tied with defenseman Michal Jordan with a team-best plus-12 plus/minus rating. The Regina, Sask., native has played in 67 career NHL regular-season games, and scoring two goals and earning 10 assists (12 points). The Hurricanes drafted Carson in the fourth round, 109th overall, in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.
The Carolina Hurricanes wrap up a five-game road swing on Wednesday at New Jersey (7 p.m., FOX Sports Carolinas HD, Hurricanes Radio Network). The Hurricanes will return to Raleigh following Wednesday's game and will host the Philadelphia Flyers on Friday on Rod Brind'Amour Night and the first game of a four-game home stand.
