NORFOLK, Va. - Keith Aucoin broke a 1-1 tie late in the second period as the Norfolk Admirals (27-16-8-3) fell to the Hershey Bears (34-16-1-3), 2-1, on Tuesday night at Norfolk Scope Arena. The Admirals and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins will battle on Friday and Saturday nights at Scope in Hall of Fame and Alumni Game Weekend.
Mike Angelidis scored Norfolk's lone goal while goaltender Mike Smith was saddled with the loss after stopping 18 of 20 shots.
The Bears took a 1-0 lead late in the first period. Dylan Yeo sent a shot from the left point that deflected off the skate of Bears forward Jay Beagle in the slot. The puck ricocheted to the right point, where Sean Collins one-timed it through a screen and past the left leg of Smith at 14:12.
Norfolk knotted the score at 1-1 10:50 into the second stanza. James Wright dropped a pass from the left point to Kevin Quick in the left circle. Quick centered the puck to Angelidis in the slot, and Angelidis sent a shot between the blocker and right leg of Hershey goaltender Todd Ford for his sixteenth goal of the season.
Hershey re-claimed the lead with only 18 seconds left in the second period. Kyle Greentree sent a pass from the left half wall to Keith Aucoin at the right point. Aucoin sent a slap shot past a screened Smith for a 2-1 Bears lead at 19:42.
